CBS SportsThe Chicago Sky lost 82-75 on Tuesday night and are now 1-7 in their past eight games. The team began the 2026 season with a 3-1 record before its leading scorer tore an ACL on May 17. Since that injury the Sky have recorded one win and seven losses.
A player on the team said after a June 7 loss that the group needs more maturity and leadership on and off the floor. The same player described the recent results as a trend and called the situation frustrating.
Background on prior season Last year the franchise finished 10-34, tying for the worst record in the league. A player who has since been traded publicly criticized the team's roster and said the organization needed to attract better players. That player was benched for half a game after those comments. The current head coach is in his second season with the team.
Coach response and teammate comment The head coach said accountability begins and ends with him and acknowledged frustration across the organization. A teammate said the player who spoke out sets an expectation and standard on the floor. The teammate added that the team responded with effort in the Tuesday game and that consistent play of that type could address controllable factors.
