Danis then attempted to lock in a submission after the match had ended, and the sequence triggered a brawl between the two teams. Chimaev said the kick followed Danis’s post-match attempt. “I accept something like that so he knows he wasn’t on my level in wrestling so he felt that and then he tried to sub me,” Chimaev said in an interview with Red Corner MMA.
Chimaev added that he would never train again if Danis had completed the submission. “If he did a submission on me I’m never gonna train again,” he said. Chimaev described Danis’s actions as unnecessary.
“Stupid guys do stupid things,” he said. ” Chimaev said he had asked Danis before the match if they could do a street fight and that Danis declined. ’ he didn’t want it,” Chimaev said. ” Chimaev said he had not expected the confrontation to occur on the mats.
He had planned to ask Danis to continue outside after the match. RAF officials were unhappy with both athletes for their roles in the brawl.
