A tracking device was discovered inside a sealed, China-made component of the UK Prime Minister's official car, according to testimony given to British lawmakers this week. The device used a cellular module to send location data to servers in China. The component remained in the vehicle throughout 2022.

Parton told the Commons that similar modules are now installed in many consumer devices. He stated that whoever controls the modules could disable connected vehicles remotely. It remains unclear which occupant of the office during 2022 was the intended target. The report cited the Daily Mail as its source.
