Maja Chwalinska of Poland will face Mirra Andreeva of Russia in the women's singles final at the French Open on Saturday at Roland Garros. Chwalinska reached the final by winning her semifinal. Andreeva advanced by defeating Marta Kostyuk in the other semifinal.

Chwalinska entered the tournament ranked outside the top 100 and was listed at 500-1 odds before qualifying began. She has recorded wins across three rounds of qualifying and four main-draw matches. This is only her third Grand Slam main draw.

Andreeva reached her first Grand Slam final after compiling 35 match wins on the WTA Tour this season. She ended an opponent's 17-match unbeaten streak on clay in the semifinal. Andreeva reached the semifinals at Roland Garros two years ago and has collected titles and deep runs on clay this spring, including a victory in Linz and a runner-up finish in Madrid.

Chwalinska relies on variety, drop shots hit with two hands, and court craft. She returned to the tour after a break taken for mental-health reasons. Andreeva brings improved serving and a powerful backhand down the line.

The winner will receive the Suzanne Lenglen Cup. ESPN reported that a win for Andreeva would make her the first Russian champion at the French Open since 2014.
