Cincinnati Reds Activate Elly De La Cruz After Three Weeks on Injured List
The Reds returned shortstop Elly De La Cruz to the active roster on June 23 and inserted him into the lineup against the Milwaukee Brewers. Outfielder Will Benson was optioned to Triple-A Louisville to make room.

The Cincinnati Reds activated shortstop Elly De La Cruz on June 23 and placed him in the starting lineup for that night's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. The team also optioned outfielder Will Benson to Triple-A Louisville. De La Cruz had been sidelined since straining his right hamstring on May 31.
ESPN reported that the activation marked the first time the two-time All-Star had been placed on the injured list in his major league career. He spent just over three weeks on the list and completed a three-game rehab assignment at Louisville over the preceding weekend.
De La Cruz homered and played five innings at shortstop on Friday, went 0-for-3 as the designated hitter on Saturday, and finished 0-for-3 with two strikeouts and an error on Sunday.
