Citi Cuts Bitcoin Price Target to $82,000 and Ether to $2,240
Citi lowered its 12-month bitcoin target to $82,000 from $112,000 and its ether target to $2,240 from $3,175. The bank now forecasts zero net inflows into U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs over the next year. Bitcoin traded near $58,400 and ether at $1,570 on July 1.

Citi lowered its 12-month price target for bitcoin to $82,000 from $112,000 and for ether to $2,240 from $3,175, CoinDesk reported. The bank also shifted its forecast for U.S. spot bitcoin ETF flows to zero net inflows over the next 12 months from an earlier expectation of positive inflows.
Analyst Alex Saunders wrote the Tuesday report that contained the revised forecasts. He cited stalled U.S. crypto legislation, weak investor sentiment and concerns over potential selling by digital asset treasury companies as factors that outweighed supportive macroeconomic conditions.
U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs recorded a record $4 billion in net outflows in June 2026, CoinDesk reported. The month marked the first time year-to-date flows turned negative since the products launched in 2024.
Bitcoin traded around $58,400 and ether at $1,570 at publication time on July 1, 2026. Both assets remained below their 200-day moving averages. Citi's bull-case targets stand at $108,000 for bitcoin and $2,932 for ether.
The bank said ETF flows remain the most important variable in its valuation framework.
