Cleveland Guardians Players Hold Autograph Event for Venezuela Earthquake Relief

Cleveland Guardians players signed autographs at Progressive Field on July 20, 2026, in exchange for donations to the American Red Cross Venezuelan Relief Fund. Hundreds of fans lined up more than nine hours before the game. Donations of at least $15 or approved physical goods allowed fans to meet players and receive signed photos between 10 a.m. and noon.
Guardians shortstop Brayan Rocchio, infielder Gabriel Arias, outfielder Angel Martinez, and minor-league outfielder Jaison Chourio participated. Minnesota Twins pitcher Pablo Lopez, Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt, and former player Carlos Baerga also signed items.
"All of our families are fine but so many people back home really need help," Rocchio said. The Guardians' Team Store pledged all game-day sales proceeds to the relief fund. The game between the Guardians and Twins drew attention as both teams remained in playoff contention in the AL Central.
The June 24 earthquake in Venezuela killed more than 5,200 people, according to the Associated Press. The American Red Cross established the Venezuelan Relief Fund to provide aid to those affected. Venezuela has produced more than 500 MLB players since 1939. Rocchio noted the country's recent World Baseball Classic championship in March 2026 gave citizens hope amid ongoing challenges.
