Cloudflare introduced a paywall system that lets its customers charge AI models for scraping website content. The architecture creates a two-sided marketplace where content owners set minimum prices and AI crawlers submit maximum bids. Stephanie Cohen, Cloudflare’s chief strategy officer, told Semafor that more than half of the company’s web requests now come from agents.
She said the internet is shifting toward a model in which every interaction and transaction becomes an opportunity for commerce. Cohen added that she does not think everyone wants to read the average. The system is designed to support both subscription models and direct payments from automated systems.
