He pulled Gunther off Rhodes during a submission hold, then removed a replacement referee who was counting a pin after Gunther powerbombed Rhodes.
Gunther attacked Zayn after the match. Rhodes demanded a new match while still in the ring. Zayn struck Gunther with the title belt, causing a disqualification, then hit Rhodes with the belt as well.
Zayn told Nick Aldis that Aldis had wanted him to referee the match and stated he called it fairly until Gunther put his hands on him. He told Rhodes that Rhodes should be thanking him for remaining champion. Rhodes later requested a triple-threat match at Night of Champions from Aldis.
