Los Angeles TimesColt Keith hit three home runs and drove in six runs to lead the Detroit Tigers to a 9-3 victory over the Houston Astros on June 15 at Daikin Park. He also was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the first inning.
The 24-year-old had entered the game with one home run in the 2026 season after hitting 13 in each of the previous two years. "I was up there and on-time for the fastballs tonight and I was able to do some damage," Keith said. " Keith added that he sees the ball well in Houston.
"Definitely one of the best games I've had in my life," he said. " The only Detroit player younger than Keith to hit three home runs in a game was Al Kaline, who accomplished the feat at age 20 on April 17, 1955. Eight Tigers players have hit three home runs in a game this century, including Miguel Cabrera twice.
Max Muncy of the Los Angeles Dodgers hit three home runs on April 10, and Andy Pages of the Dodgers did so on May 6, also in Houston. Keith's performance marked the third such game in the majors this season. The Tigers improved to 30-42 and remained six games out of the American League's third wild-card playoff spot after the win.
