The Council of Europe determined last week that the issue of Iran’s human rights abuses was not sufficiently tackled during negotiations between Washington and Tehran. Since the beginning of 2026, at least 45 political prisoners and individuals on security-related charges were executed in Iran, according to the Center for Human Rights in Iran.
Naz Gharai from Tehran was covered in red paint during a protest near UN headquarters in New York City calling for UN action on the treatment of women in Iran.
The protest occurred on November 19 following the death of Mahsa Amini while in the custody of the morality police.
