Court Grants Singer Temporary Sole Custody After Ex's Arrest
A Los Angeles Superior Court judge granted Jack Avery temporary sole legal and physical custody of his daughter and issued a restraining order against his ex-partner. The orders followed the arrest of Gabbie Gonzalez and two others in connection with an alleged murder-for-hire plot.
New York PostA Los Angeles Superior Court judge granted Jack Avery temporary sole legal and physical custody of his seven-year-old daughter and issued a temporary restraining order against his ex-partner, Gabbie Gonzalez. The orders bar Gonzalez from any visitation with the child, Lavender, pending further court proceedings.
Court documents filed Tuesday show Avery requested the emergency measures after Gonzalez's arrest.
Authorities arrested Gonzalez, her father Francisco Gonzalez, and Kai Cordrey on May 18 in connection with an alleged conspiracy to kill Avery. Investigators say the plan dates back to 2021 and involved surveillance of Avery while he lived in Hawaii.
According to court filings, investigators allege the group sought photographs or videos of Avery that could be used in custody proceedings. A federal agent later posed as a hitman and participated in a phone call with Francisco Gonzalez during which payments and the target were discussed.
Avery addressed the arrests in an Instagram statement on May 21. "A few days ago, three individuals were arrested in connection with an alleged plot to kill me," he wrote. " Avery said he had remained silent during the investigation out of respect for the legal process and his daughter.
He stated his focus is now on providing a stable environment for Lavender and thanked law enforcement and the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for their support.
