Cricket Australia is reviewing whistleblower claims that a staff member directed more than $600,000 in contracts to companies with which the staffer had personal ties. The allegations surfaced during recent staff reductions at the organization.
Cricket Australia is concluding an investigation into whistleblower allegations that a staffer commissioned contracts worth more than $600,000 to companies with which the staffer had personal associations. The staffer previously worked at another sports organization before joining Cricket Australia.
The complaints arrived during a period of staff reductions, with about 20 employees leaving the organization in March and April after around 15 departed in July last year. The staffer had also been reviewed by the integrity unit at the previous employer.
Cricket Australia confirmed the review in a statement. ” The other sports organization was contacted for comment.
The whistleblower report alleges that the staffer registered a company in March 2025 and listed themselves as director and shareholder. A second company was registered in November 2025, with a close associate named as director. Officials were informed that the associate resigned as director and secretary of the first company on February 16, 2026.
Two days later, Cricket Australia issued its first purchase order to one of the companies. The staffer approved the order on February 19. The whistleblower alleges that purchase orders have now reached more than $600,000 in total payments.
The whistleblower also alleges that a senior figure at Cricket Australia introduced the staffer to the organization, raising questions about recruitment procedures. Two other former staff members from the previous employer have since been hired into the same department. The report was first published by another media outlet.
