Cubs Edge Rockies 5-4 on Walk-Off After Crow-Armstrong Hits for Cycle and Is Picked Off
Chicago center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong completed the first cycle of the 2026 season on June 15. The Cubs scored twice in the ninth for their ninth walk-off win.

Crow-Armstrong homered to lead off the game, tripled in the third inning, doubled in the fifth and singled in the seventh. His first three hits came off Rockies starter Michael Lorenzen; the single came off reliever Antonio Senzatela.
The 24-year-old was picked off first base immediately after the seventh-inning single. "I did everything I could to help the team, but I also had a real lapse in focus, and that really could have hurt us tonight," Crow-Armstrong said. The Cubs trailed 4-3 entering the ninth before scoring twice for a 5-4 victory.
It was Chicago's ninth walk-off win of the season, more than any other team. Crow-Armstrong is the 13th player in Cubs franchise history to hit for the cycle and the youngest since Randy Hundley in 1966. He is also the first Cubs player to accomplish the feat since teammate Carson Kelly in March 2026.
He entered the game with 13 hits in his previous six contests, eight of them extra-base hits. 845 after the cycle. The performance marked the fourth time a player in the divisional era, since 1969, completed a cycle in reverse order: home run, triple, double, single.
The previous player to hit for the cycle in the majors was Twins center fielder Byron Buxton in July 2025. "I'm proud of myself for the work I've been doing over the last few weeks, over the course of the year, really," Crow-Armstrong said. Teammate Matt Shaw said, "A cycle is pretty up there as far as ceilings go.
Crow-Armstrong added that he appreciated the standing ovation from the Wrigley Field crowd. "It was cool," he said. "I absolutely put up great at-bats tonight. " Chicago had lost a series to Colorado the previous week and entered the game with a 38-35 record.
