thecomeback.comMajor League Baseball warned three San Francisco Giants pitchers on Monday that writing on Pride Night caps violates league rules. The pitchers wore the caps during Friday’s game against the Chicago Cubs. The caps featured the franchise logo in rainbow colors for the team’s Pride Night event.
” “It’s just about God’s covenant and a promise that he makes to us that, you know, his faithfulness and his mercy,” Roupp said after the game. Roupp added that the writing reflected his personal beliefs. “That’s just kind of something I believe in, and I stand firm in that, and I’m thankful we live in a country where, you know, we have the freedom to believe what we want … and express what we want,” he said.
“There’s no hate at all. I believe in God,” Roupp stated. MLB chief communications officer Pat Courtney said the league acted in line with standard practice.
“The writing on the cap violates our rules, and consistent with normal practice, we have warned the players about future violations,” Courtney said. The league stated that similar writing on team-issued Pride Night hats will not be tolerated.
