The reliever opened the year with the Angels and posted a 5.01 ERA in 25 appearances before missing time with elbow inflammation. Los Angeles released him in mid-June, and he signed a minor league deal with the Cubs a few days later.
The reliever spent 2025 in Chicago, recording a 2.17 ERA while working in various roles. He recorded 14 holds and one save, made four appearances as an opener, and appeared in a career-high 57 games. The Angels remain responsible for the $4 million contract, while the Cubs will pay only the prorated portion of the league minimum.
