Local time, officials received a call about an inbound aircraft with two flat front tires. The New York City Fire Department responded with a normal stand by second alarm, deploying 46 units and 141 fire and EMS personnel. Delta Air Lines said the aircraft experienced only some damage to one tire and clarified that the flight did not suffer a tire blowout.
The airline stated the tire suffered from tread wear and described the response as far more precautionary than needed. The aircraft reached the gate under its own power after receiving clearance to taxi normally. Maintenance crews assessed the plane and deemed it suitable to continue without requiring a taxiway tire replacement.
