Democratic Senate candidates James Talarico and Jon Ossoff are facing scrutiny over donations from Reid Hoffman, a billionaire investor who once visited Jeffrey Epstein's private island. Hoffman donated $11.5 million to the Talarico-aligned super PAC Lone Star Rising, with $10 million given in June alone, the Texas Tribune reported.
In Georgia, Hoffman gave the legal maximum of $7,000 to Ossoff's campaign for the 2025-2026 cycle.
Hoffman-Epstein association Hoffman met Epstein on July 19, 2013, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The following year, Hoffman stayed overnight at Epstein's Caribbean island, Little Saint James, the Wall Street Journal reported. Hoffman later apologized for the association, saying he helped repair Epstein's reputation.
Talarico has repeatedly used the phrase "Epstein class" to criticize Republican candidates. Ossoff has accused the Trump administration of representing the "Epstein class" in public statements. A spokesperson for Talarico's campaign said the campaign has no control over super PAC contributions and federal law prohibits coordination.
The spokesperson added that contributions support efforts to tax billionaires and limit their political influence. Hoffman has also donated the maximum legal amount to the re-election campaign of Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey.
