Democrats Seek MAHA Voters Ahead of Midterm Elections
Sen. Cory Booker urged Democrats to align with parts of the Make America Healthy Again movement. Lawmakers from both parties have introduced measures targeting glyphosate and chemical company liability.

Martin Heinrich (D-NM) introduced the No Immunity for Glyphosate Act last month. The bill would overturn an executive order promoting glyphosate production. Rep. Chellie Pingree (ME) and Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) offered an amendment to the farm bill that would remove language shielding chemical companies from health-related lawsuits.
The MAHA movement formed around Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. ’s concerns that corporate interests contribute to poorer health outcomes. It has largely aligned with the Trump administration. Roughly 1,000 people joined the People vs.
Poison rally at the Supreme Court last month. MAHA advocates have criticized the Environmental Protection Agency for easing limits on certain chemicals in drinking water.
Shroff said the movement’s distrust of institutions creates tension with parts of the Democratic base. He added that limited policy steps on food colorings or pharmaceutical advertising might attract some MAHA voters. Jennifer Galardi of the Heritage Foundation said MAHA aligns more with conservative principles and that Democratic outreach faces structural limits.
Zen Honeycutt of Moms Across America stated that MAHA voters will not support candidates who back vaccine mandates. Democratic strategist Randy Jones said the party must rebuild credibility on health issues while maintaining its emphasis on scientific advancement.
