Detroit Tigers weigh trade deadline options for Tarik Skubal

The team's schedule before the deadline includes games against the worst, second-worst and third-worst teams in the American League, plus a Baltimore club that recently won four straight.

Officials said the Tigers are unlikely to move Skubal unless their position changes after the break.

The Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, Atlanta Braves and Tampa Bay Rays have been identified as clubs that could pursue Skubal. The Dodgers hold the strongest farm system and financial resources among the group. The Cubs face the most immediate roster need but would have to trade from a thinner prospect pool.

The Braves sit atop the National League East and could pair Skubal with an existing starter. The Rays hold the best record in the American League and maintain a deep farm system.

Rival executives expressed skepticism that the club would trade Skubal or another starter given the recent performance.
