Djokovic Advances to Wimbledon Third Round After Straight-Sets Victory

Novak Djokovic defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets on Wednesday to reach the third round at Wimbledon. The seventh seed and 39-year-old will face 26th seed Arthur Rinderknech in a match scheduled first on Centre Court at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.

Jannik Sinner is set to play Jenson Brooksby on No. 1 Court at 1 p.m. Friday. Aryna Sabalenka meets Jelena Ostapenko on Centre Court the same day, while Naomi Osaka faces Daria Kasatkina on No. 1 Court at 1 p.m.

Serena Williams lost 6-3 6-7 6-3 to Maya Joint on Tuesday night on Centre Court. The 44-year-old sustained a knee injury during the match and received lengthy physio treatment. She and Venus Williams are not scheduled to play their first-round doubles match on Friday.

Arthur Fery became the only British player remaining in the singles draw after defeating qualifier Otto Virtanen in four sets on Thursday. He will play in the third round on Saturday. Katie Swan lost 6-1 6-4 to Madison Keys in the second round.

The 27-year-old had returned to Wimbledon for the first time in three years after overcoming back problems. Amanda Anisimova defeated Sofia Kenin in a match tie-break to reach the third round. Alexandra Eala, the 29th seed, beat Maya Joint in three sets to advance and will next face Iga Swiatek.

Jacob Fearnley lost 6-4 7-6 6-4 to Jaume Munar. Jan Choinski fell 4-6 6-2 7-5 6-2 to Frances Tiafoe.
