Dodgers' Ohtani to Serve as Designated Hitter in Yankees Series After Knee Procedure
Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani had fluid drained from his left knee after the July 12 game. Manager Dave Roberts said Ohtani will be in the lineup for the series starting July 17 at Yankee Stadium but has not decided if he will pitch.

Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani will be available as a designated hitter for the team's three-game series against the New York Yankees starting Friday at Yankee Stadium after fluid was drained from his left knee. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that the procedure relieved irritation following Sunday's game and that Ohtani received no injection.
ESPN reported that Ohtani is taking a few days of vacation before the second half of the 2026 season.
"He's going to be in the lineup," Roberts said before managing the National League in the All-Star Game. Ohtani was previously ruled out for Tuesday's All-Star Game. 293 with 22 home runs and 58 RBIs while posting an 8-2 record with a 1.79 ERA and 95 strikeouts in 85⅔ innings over 14 starts.
He last pitched on July 3. "We haven't decided that yet," Roberts said of whether Ohtani will pitch against the Yankees. The four-time MVP plays for the two-time World Series champion Dodgers.
