"Yeah, me and Malik share lockers," Brooks said, via the team's website. "Went out to eat with him a couple of weeks ago, picking his brain. Like I said, it's still early, but just having the conversations with him, I can tell that he's serious about his job and he's hungry.
" Brooks noted that Willis has already begun leading teammates by participating in extra practice work.
Brooks described the Dolphins' offseason as bringing many new players, coaches, and staff members. He said the environment feels like a new team despite retaining the same uniforms. Brooks added that new head coach Jeff Hafley has delivered clear, concise messages and structured practices to accommodate players learning a new system.
Patriots tight end Hunter Henry said quarterback Drake Maye will benefit from entering his second season in the same offensive scheme. Former quarterback Brian Hoyer stated that Maye will gain a deeper understanding of the reasons behind play calls, which should improve his decision-making speed.
Hoyer also noted that Maye's athletic ability could become a larger factor as his grasp of the offense sharpens.
