DR Congo vs Chile World Cup Warm-Up Relocated to Orleans Behind Closed Doors After Spanish Mayor Blocks Match

DR Congo's final World Cup warm-up game against Chile will take place behind closed doors in the French city of Orleans on Tuesday at 16:00 BST. The match had been scheduled for Cadiz in Spain until a local mayor signed a decree preventing it as a precautionary measure.

World Cup hosts the United States require the DR Congo squad and officials to spend 21 days outside DR Congo and be symptom-free before entering the country.

None of the team's players have visited their homeland recently, though some support staff and fans have travelled from DR Congo. The squad is finalising preparations in Marbella in Spain after completing a 10-day training camp in Belgium that included a 0-0 draw with Denmark. DR Congo plans to base itself in Houston during the tournament.

The team will open its Group K campaign against Portugal on 17 June in Houston, then face Colombia in Guadalajara before playing Uzbekistan in Atlanta. It is the first time DR Congo has qualified for the World Cup since 1974, when it competed as Zaire and finished bottom of its group after defeats by Scotland, Brazil and Yugoslavia.

The Ebola outbreak in eastern DR Congo is caused by the Bundibugyo species.

There is currently no vaccine for this strain, and the World Health Organisation has said it could take up to nine months for one to be ready. Yoane Wissa of Newcastle is one of five players in the DR Congo squad who play in England.
