Dustin May pitches one-hitter as Cardinals defeat Padres 3-0
Dustin May threw a one-hitter for the St. Louis Cardinals in a 3-0 win over the San Diego Padres on Monday night. The right-hander lost a perfect game in the seventh inning but finished with nine strikeouts and one walk.

The 28-year-old right-hander threw 101 pitches, 69 of them strikes, and recorded his ninth strikeout to end the game. He issued one walk and became the first Cardinals starter this season to record an out in the eighth inning.
May lost a perfect game when Manny Machado singled in the seventh inning.
"This is about as good as I've felt in a long time," he said. " May had accumulated just 101 innings between 2021 and 2024 due to multiple arm injuries and an esophagus tear. The Los Angeles Dodgers traded May to Boston last season. This season marks his first with the Cardinals.
Manager Oliver Marmol left him in to finish the game after the no-hit bid ended. May's outing was the ninth complete game and sixth individual shutout recorded in the majors this season.
