The Lakewood, Colorado-based chain announced plans to reach more than 1,000 locations nationwide. The expansion will use a remodeled store format and targets younger customers.
foxbusiness.comEinstein Bros. Bagels announced Thursday that it will open 300 additional stores by 2030. The move would bring the chain past the 1,000-location mark. The company currently operates about 700 cafes across the United States and is owned by Panera Bread. It cited rising visits from rewards members under age 35, which increased 22 percent year over year.
The chain is rolling out a remodeled “Elevate the Morning” format that separates in-store ordering from digital pickup. The design features warmer finishes and places fresh-baked bagels near the entrance. Each new location will offer bagels in multiple styles, egg sandwiches made with cage-free eggs, coffee, cold brew, and a rewards program.
Catering for small and large events will also be available.
Research cited by the company shows 52 percent of Americans eat bagels at any time of day and 55 percent now prefer them over donuts for breakfast. The chain said the updated store model has already been tested through remodels in the Cincinnati market.
"We've spent years perfecting a highly scalable store model that delivers fresh, high-quality breakfast with the convenience today's guests expect, and now we're accelerating that model across the country," the CEO of Einstein Bros. Bagels said in a statement.
