bbc.co.ukEmma Raducanu defeated Sorana Cirstea 6-4 6-2 on 12 June 2026 at the Queen's Club Championship in London. Raducanu defeated world number 18 Sorana Cirstea 6-4 6-2. Cirstea, ranked world number 18, had beaten Raducanu 6-0 6-2 in the Transylvania Open final in February 2026.
Raducanu had not won back-to-back matches since that February tournament. She opened her Queen's campaign with a win over Anna Blinkova, her first victory since Indian Wells in March 2026. A post-viral illness kept Raducanu off the WTA Tour for more than two months.
She lost in Strasbourg and at the French Open before arriving at Queen's. "It feels incredible to come out and play how I did today against Sorana. Earlier in the year she beat me, but I'm really glad I could get her back at home," Raducanu said.
"I think I played at a really high level, I knew I had to go out and play aggressively and dictate. As soon as I took my foot off the gas a little bit, she was coming back," she added. Raducanu will face Kamilla Rakhimova in the quarter-finals.
Rakhimova defeated Britain's Harriet Dart 5-7 6-1 7-5 in a match that lasted almost three hours. Katie Boulter also advanced, beating Jaqueline Cristian 6-1 6-3 in 67 minutes.
Boulter will play top seed Elena Rybakina. Rybakina, a former Wimbledon champion, defeated defending champion Tatjana Maria 6-7 (4-7) 7-5 6-0. No play was possible at Queen's on Thursday 11 June 2026 due to rain.
All four quarter-finals are scheduled for Friday 13 June 2026.
