England Men Beat Argentina 5-0 and Australia 4-3 in FIH Pro League
England's men recorded two victories at Lee Valley while the women's team lost twice to Germany. The results leave both squads with six games remaining in the league.
The BbcEngland's men defeated Argentina 5-0 and Australia 4-3 in consecutive FIH Pro League matches at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre in London. Henry Croft scored twice against Argentina on Saturday, with additional goals from Sam Ward, Nick Bandurak and Tom Sorsby. On Sunday the same venue hosted a 4-3 win over Australia.
England trailed after Nathan Ephraums scored for the visitors, then replied through Will Calnan, David Goodfield, Tom Sorsby and Samuel Hooper to lead 4-1. Ephraums and Ky Willott pulled Australia back to within one goal, but England held the result. The two victories placed England third in the men's table on 21 points with six matches left.
Australia sit second on the same points total after one fewer game. England's women lost 2-1 and 3-0 to Germany in their own FIH Pro League fixtures. Those defeats left the team seventh in the standings on seven points, also with six games remaining.
Both England squads return to Lee Valley on Saturday, 20 June. The men face Argentina again and the women play Australia.
