Entrepreneur Faces Health Collapse from Overwork, Income Falls to Under $12,000 in Southern California

Melissa Drake, an entrepreneur based in Southern California, described a health crisis triggered by prolonged overwork. For more than a decade, she had operated as an entrepreneur, authored books, and delivered a TEDx talk. At her peak, her income exceeded $140,000 annually.

Drake's work habits involved long hours, inconsistent sleep, and constant pressure to meet demands. She built a reputation for delivering under pressure, often completing tasks at the last minute. This approach, however, led to ignoring physical signals from her body.

Last spring, after receiving payment from a new client, Drake collapsed on her bathroom floor and was unable to respond to messages or continue working. She experienced severe physical symptoms, including intense pain, recurring headaches, digestive issues, and periods of exhaustion that impaired her ability to function.

These symptoms occasionally required emergency care, though medical tests returned normal results.
