Javier Pastore, agent for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez, said July 2 that he and the player are seeking ways for Fernandez to leave the club. Pastore told MARCA that discussions are underway but added that nothing is firm or confirmed with any club. Pastore said Fernandez is concentrating solely on Argentina's World Cup campaign and is close to advancing to the round of 16.
Argentina faces Cabo Verde in the round of 32 on July 3. Chelsea previously punished Fernandez after he commented that he would like to live in Madrid. Pastore clarified that the remarks referred to the city in general and not to Real Madrid.
He noted that Fernandez has many friends in Madrid, including close friend Julian Alvarez, and that Pastore himself lives there. Pastore described Fernandez as versatile across midfield roles, including defensive pivot and attacking interior. According to BBC Sport, Chelsea will accept $160 million (£120 million) for the player.
