Eugenio Chacarra Leaves LIV Golf for PGA Tour, Aims to Become Top Player
Eugenio Chacarra, who won an event on LIV Golf in 2022, left the league in 2024. He cited limited access to major tournaments and the Ryder Cup as reasons for the move and stated his goal of becoming the best player in the world.
Eugenio Chacarra left LIV Golf in 2024 after winning an event on the circuit in 2022. The 26-year-old Spaniard told Today's Golfer that the limited schedule and lack of access to major championships and the Ryder Cup reduced his motivation. "Once you win out there, as I did, your life doesn't change that much," he said.
"You don't get into majors, you don't get a chance to be in the Ryder Cup, you don't get a chance to play a lot of events. " Chacarra said he wants to become the best player in the world. He noted that he was the top college golfer and has held that goal since childhood.
Chacarra said he played only 30 events on the DP World Tour and needs to improve his mental approach and wedge play. He specifically mentioned controlling spin on approach shots and sharpening his short game. "I need to start getting to know myself a little better and get my mental game a little better, and then I think I need to do way better with my wedges," he said.
