riotimesonline.comEurozone annual inflation held steady at 3.2% in May, matching analyst expectations after rising from 3.0% the prior month. The core measure, which excludes energy and food prices, climbed to 2.5% from 2.2%, exceeding the 2.4% forecast.
On a month-over-month basis, consumer prices increased 0.1%, in line with estimates and down from the 1.0% gain recorded in April. The data cover the 20 countries that use the euro currency.
Economists had projected the headline annual rate would remain unchanged at 3.2%. The core annual rate came in 0.1 percentage point above the consensus estimate.
