Usa TodayA fast-food chain reported that its endorsed candidate won the Republican primary for Iowa governor on June 2. The candidate defeated the incumbent representative and three other contenders. The company posted on X the following day that voters supported its candidate in a close race.
Company menu changes The chain announced on June 1 that it would prepare all burgers with grass-fed beef. It had already switched cooking oil to beef tallow in March and began offering cane-sugar Coca-Cola in glass bottles last August. The company also said it would remove microwaves from franchise locations by April and install large American flags at each site.
Candidate positions The candidate ran on an Iowa First platform and linked rising cancer rates and water issues to large-scale agriculture. The candidate also called for removing mRNA vaccines and COVID-19 shots from the market. The candidate will face the state auditor, a Democrat, in the November general election to replace the outgoing governor.
