Department of Homeland Security agents carried out 20 federal warrants and arrested 10 members of the Hoover Criminals Gang in Los Angeles on July 1 as part of Operation Broken Blade. The agency said the operation targeted sex trafficking along the Figueroa Corridor south of downtown. Officials identified 51 victims connected to the arrests, some as young as 14.
The 10 suspects face federal racketeering charges that include sex trafficking, money laundering, firearms offenses, and narcotics offenses, according to the agency. Officials described the suspects as career criminals with prior records that include robbery, kidnapping, and burglary.
The arrests mark the second round of enforcement under Operation Broken Blade, which began in August 2025 in cooperation with Customs and Border Protection, the Los Angeles Police Department, and the California Highway Patrol.
Wang said Homeland Security Investigations remains focused on protecting victims and pursuing justice against human traffickers. Acting Assistant DHS Secretary of Public Affairs Lauren Bis said the agency has made disrupting sex trafficking rings a priority under the current administration. The suspects are scheduled to stand trial in March 2027.
