FIFA Announces Official Mascots for 2026 World Cup Hosted by US, Canada and Mexico
The three host nations each receive a mascot for the tournament that opens with ceremonies in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
ESPNFIFA named Clutch, Maple and Zayu the official mascots of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Clutch represents the United States, Maple represents Canada and Zayu represents Mexico. The tournament will feature matches in 11 cities across the three countries and will include three separate opening ceremonies.
Shakira performed at the first of those ceremonies. Clutch is a bald eagle. The bald eagle became the official national bird of the United States in December 2024. " Maple is a moose. The mascot was created in September 2025.
Zayu is a jaguar. " The tradition of official World Cup mascots began with World Cup Willie at the 1966 World Cup in England. Earlier mascots include Pique, Stryker, Footix, Goleo and La'eeb. Rob Harris reported from Mexico City on day one of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
