FIFA to Award 30 Championship Rings to 2026 World Cup Winners and Sell Nearly 2,000 to the Public

FIFA will award championship rings to the winners of the 2026 World Cup final scheduled for Sunday. The move introduces a tradition long established in North American sports to the global tournament. Abc reported that 2,026 rings have been made in total.

Thirty will go to the winning team while 1,996 will be sold to the public. Each ring will be individually numbered, custom-fitted and delivered with its own certificate of authenticity. One side of each ring will feature the World Cup trophy.

The other side will be designed to reflect the identity of the winning team, FIFA said. Players on the title-winning side will continue to receive gold medals as usual. The captain and coach will receive temporary rings shortly after the match before the full set of 30 customized rings is produced.

FIFA has not revealed the price of the rings offered to the public. The decision to produce rings coincides with the final being held in the United States and follows a practice that dates back at least to 1893 in North American hockey and later spread to baseball, basketball and football leagues.
