First Patient Treated in Pilot Study of Partial Cellular Reprogramming for Advanced Glaucoma
A pilot study of 12 patients has begun testing partial cellular reprogramming using three Yamanaka stem cell factors for advanced glaucoma.
The first participant in a pilot study of partial cellular reprogramming for advanced glaucoma received treatment. The study includes 12 patients and uses three of the four Yamanaka stem cell factors to attempt cellular rejuvenation. @EricTopol reported the treatment details.
The study was published in Nature. The approach targets eye disease consisting of advanced glaucoma. Researchers selected three Yamanaka factors rather than all four for the partial reprogramming protocol.
