Florida Judge Denies Prosecutors’ Request for GPS Monitor on Former Lions Player Terrion Arnold

A Florida judge ruled Friday that former Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold does not need to wear a GPS tracker as a condition of his release on bond. The ruling enables Arnold to work out with NFL teams in pursuit of a new contract after the Lions released him last week.

Arnold turned himself in on June 24 in connection with a February kidnapping and robbery case in the Tampa area and remains free on a $1 million bond subject to home confinement except for work and legal matters.

The Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office had sought to impose the GPS monitor after the team cut him, arguing that his status as an NFL player had changed substantially. Arnold's lawyers countered that the device would hinder his ability to secure employment with another team.

His agent, Nicole Lynn, testified that multiple teams expressed interest within 24 hours of his release from the Lions, including the New York Jets, Seattle Seahawks, Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts.

She said Arnold worked out with the Texans this week and has another session scheduled next week, adding there is a good likelihood he signs within 45 days. Arnold cleared waivers Monday and is now an unrestricted free agent. He was selected in the first round of the 2024 draft out of Alabama.
