Toronto Tempo Defeat New York Liberty 93-91 to End Four-Game Losing Streak

The Toronto Tempo defeated the New York Liberty 93-91 on July 12 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, ending a four-game losing streak and improving to 11-13. The New York Liberty fell to 13-12. Toronto led by as many as 10 points in the first quarter before an Isabelle Harrison jump shot was ruled out as the shot clock expired.

New York scored twice in the final six seconds to close the gap. The Liberty tied the game at 26-26 early in the second quarter after an 11-2 run, but the Tempo responded with a 15-4 run in the final five minutes of the half. Marina Mabrey scored 12 points on six shots in the third quarter after starting 1-for-4 from the field, pushing Toronto's lead to as many as 20 points.

The Liberty cut the deficit to single digits in the fourth quarter and tied the score at 91 with under a minute remaining. Nyara Sabally made the go-ahead layup with less than one minute left to give Toronto a 93-91 lead. The Tempo outscored the Liberty 24-2 in fast-break points and held on when New York failed to score on its final possession.

Toronto will host the Washington Mystics on July 14. New York will face the Dallas Wings on July 16.
