Former Dollar Tree Employee Sues Company Alleging Sexual Harassment by Manager

Nasushon Taylor filed a civil complaint in federal court on June 23 alleging sexual harassment by her former Dollar Tree store manager in Queens, New York. The Independent reported that the suit claims the conduct began in her first month on the job in January 2024 and continued until she resigned in May 2024. Taylor started at the store in January 2024.

The complaint states the manager regularly approached her at the register, pressed his body against her, and used the pretext of entering his PIN code to make contact. It adds that he came to the store on scheduled days off to pursue advances and reached across her chest while using the register touchscreen.

The manager asked Taylor if she had a partner, gave her his phone number, and listed qualities he thought would impress her, according to the complaint.

After she said she was not interested, he told her he was looking for love and asked her on dates three to four times per week for a total of about 50 occasions. The complaint says he told her she should not be friendly to male customers, a criticism not applied to other employees. Taylor bought a fake engagement ring to deter the advances.

The complaint states her hours were then cut from 30 per week to 20 or fewer. She reported the situation to Human Resources several times without response. The manager later accused her of taking $25 from the register and a colleague accused her of shorting another drawer by $9, both claims the complaint calls false.

Taylor resigned in May 2024. She began working at White Castle, where the manager appeared on May 17, June 7, June 17, July 17, and July 24, 2024, and asked for her employee discount. The complaint says associates of the manager also came to the location and one woman spat on Taylor.
