Officials announced the appointment of former Taguig mayor Lino Cayetano as the new general manager of PTV-4 on Wednesday. Cayetano previously served as Taguig 2nd District congressman from 2013 to 2016 and as Taguig mayor from 2019 to 2022. He is a television director and producer who obtained a Mass Communication degree from the University of the Philippines and a Diploma in Film from the New York Film Academy.

Background on the appointee Cayetano co-founded Rein Entertainment, where he continues to work as a producer and director. He ran in the 2025 Taguig 1st District congressional race but lost. The appointment marks the second time officials have named a defeated 2025 candidate to a government post since the ban on such appointments ended on May 13.

Presidential Communications Office chief Dave Gomez said in a statement that Cayetano brings experience from media, the private sector, and public service. Cayetano is the brother of Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano, though the two are politically estranged.
