Formula 1 president Stefano Domenicali said he hopes to add at least one of two cancelled Middle East races back to the 2026 calendar. The Bahrain and Jeddah events were removed after regional conflict began in April.
abcnews.go.comFormula 1 president Stefano Domenicali said he hopes to restore at least one of the two Middle East races cancelled earlier this year.
"If there is something that we can announce also related to the possibility of seeing if there is any space for what has not been done so far, we're going to do it, in the right moment and the right conditions," Domenicali told UK broadcaster Sky Sport on Saturday.
He added that a decision would need to be made before the August summer break for logistical reasons. Sky Sports reported that Bahrain could be inserted between the Baku and Singapore races in early October.
The final two races of the current 22-race season remain scheduled for Qatar and Abu Dhabi in December. Domenicali said the organization is monitoring conditions and hopes those events will proceed as planned. "Our duty is to make sure we are ready to run our calendar as it is planned," he said. The United States and Iran are engaged in negotiations aimed at ending the regional conflict.
