Four-Star Quarterback Kingston Preyear Commits to Alabama Over Florida and Vanderbilt

Alabama secured a commitment from four-star quarterback Kingston Preyear on July 10, ESPN reported. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound prospect from Alexander City selected the Crimson Tide over finalists Florida and Vanderbilt. Preyear ranks as the No.

3 pocket passer in the 2028 recruiting class and the No. 39 overall recruit in the SC Next Junior 300. He is the No. 2 overall prospect in Alabama for that cycle and the highest-rated of five prospects committed to the program's 2028 class.

Preyear began his high school career at Montgomery Catholic High School, where he started nine varsity games and led the team to a Class 5A state title as a freshman in 2024. He transferred to Benjamin Russell High School ahead of his sophomore season and threw for 3,026 yards and 34 touchdowns in fall 2025.

He cited the professional nature of the Crimson Tide quarterback room and the development plan presented by offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb and quarterbacks coach Bryan Ellis during a June visit as central to his decision.

Preyear made multiple trips to Alabama this spring and also visited Auburn, Clemson, Florida, and LSU. Alabama quarterbacks Austin Mack and Keelon Russell are set to battle for the starting job when fall camp opens in August 2026. The program signed quarterbacks Jett Thomalla and Tayden-Evan Kaawa in the 2026 cycle and holds commitments from Elijah Haven and Trent Seaborn in the 2027 class.

As of July 10, Alabama holds 13 commits in the 2027 class, including three from the SC Next 300.
