Fox Announces Cast for Baywatch Reboot Series Set for 2026-27 Premiere
Fox is producing a 12-episode reboot of the Baywatch lifeguard drama, originally aired from 1989 to 1999, with production underway in Venice Beach and Century City. Fox has greenlit a reboot of the Baywatch television series, a lifeguard drama that originally ran for 11 seasons from 1989 to 1999. The new 12-episode series is scheduled to premiere during the 2026-27 television season. Production is currently taking place in Venice Beach and on the Fox studio lot in Century City, California.
Matt Nix, known for his work on Burn Notice and True Lies, serves as showrunner and executive producer. He is joined by executive producers McG, who directed the pilot episode and has credits including The O.C. and Charlie’s Angels, as well as Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Doug Schwartz, Dante Di Loreto, and Mike Horowitz.
The reboot features an ensemble cast blending established actors and social media influencers.
Stephen Amell has been cast in the lead role of Hobie Buchannon, the son of the original series' Mitch Buchannon, portrayed by David Hasselhoff. Amell's previous roles include Suits LA, Arrow, Heels, The Flash, The Borderline, Code 8, and Legends of Tomorrow. He is represented by UTA, Leverage Management, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
Shay Mitchell joins as series regular Trina, a former lawyer who transitions to a full-time lifeguard after leaving a top-tier firm. Mitchell appeared as Emily Fields in all seven seasons of Pretty Little Liars and has credits in Netflix’s You, Hulu’s Dollface, and films such as Mother’s Day, Dreamland, and Something from Tiffany’s.
She is the founder and chief creative officer of the travel and lifestyle brand Béis, and is represented by Linden Entertainment, WME, and Grubman Shire Meiselas & Sacks.
Jessica Belkin portrays Charlie Vale, the biological daughter of Amell's character Hobie Buchannon, in a series regular role. Charlie relocates from Texas to pursue a lifeguard position with Baywatch amid a complicated family background. Belkin's credits include The Hunting Wives, Bad Day, and Last Straw, with an upcoming role in the Legally Blonde prequel series Elle.
