The French government presented a new national plan on July 6 to address racism, antisemitism, and discrimination based on origin. The plan contains 55 measures scheduled for implementation from 2026 through 2029. The presentation took place at the National Library Richelieu site in Paris.
Officials from the education, interior, and regional planning ministries attended alongside the minister responsible for gender equality and the fight against discrimination.
Key measures The plan calls for training programs for school principals, inspectors, and future teachers. It also increases annual student visits to memorial sites from 500,000 to 800,000. Additional steps include enhanced training for police and gendarmes, recruitment testing campaigns every two years, and systematic tracking of convictions for racist and antisemitic offenses.
Citizenship courses at memorial sites will serve as sanctions for racist remarks. The plan further directs development of a non-discrimination training framework for real estate professionals and creation of responsible AI tools to reduce algorithmic bias in hiring.
