Organizers relocated the boards on Saturday following trips by Katie Boulter and Zeynep Sonmez. The change came after player complaints and an injury that ended Sonmez's doubles match.
swissinfo.chFrench Open organizers moved advertising boards on the courts at Roland Garros on Saturday after two players tripped over the foot-high Lacoste signs during matches. The boards, which had been placed in front of the folded court covers, were moved to the top of the tarps at the back of the courts. Organizers issued a statement on Friday acknowledging player feedback.
Organizers stated that the courts exceed the international circuit minimum requirements regarding the distance between the baseline and the back of the court. They added that the tournament's priority remains the well-being of the players and that adjustments are being made based on their own observations. Britain's Katie Boulter tripped over the signs during her match on Thursday.
Turkey's Zeynep Sonmez tripped over the signs during her match on Friday. She needed two stitches and bruised her knee, then abandoned her women's doubles match after only two games due to injury. Sonmez backed up Boulter's call for change.
Iga Swiatek also voiced her concerns about the advertising boards. " Swiatek said.
