Fuddruckers Operates 44 Restaurants After Decades of Ownership Changes

Fox NewsFuddruckers currently operates 44 restaurants after shrinking from a reported peak of between 200 and 500 locations in the late 1980s. The chain opened its first location in Texas in 1979 under founder Phil Romano. It expanded during the 1980s before changing owners several times.
Luby's acquired Fuddruckers in 2010 after the chain's parent company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Luby's announced plans to liquidate the brand in 2020. 5 million.
Business coach Brad Sugars told Fox News Digital that Fuddruckers did not adapt to changes in customer preferences for food and ordering methods. Sugars cited Domino's as an example of a chain that updated its menu and developed an ordering app to compete in delivery markets.
The National Restaurant Association reported that 100,000 restaurants closed permanently or long-term within six months of the COVID-19 pandemic's onset. Fox News Digital reached out to Fuddruckers and Black Titan Franchise Systems for comment but did not receive a response.
