Germany Defeats Curaçao 7-1 at World Cup in Houston
Germany scored six different goal scorers in a 7-1 win over Curaçao, whose population of 158,000 sent roughly 7,000 supporters to the match.

Livano Comenencia equalized for Curaçao after a rapid attack down the right that Nico Schlotterbeck only half-cleared, prompting a three-minute hydration break during which a Mariachi band performed.
Nico Schlotterbeck scored Germany’s second goal from a corner taken by Brown. Kai Havertz converted a penalty kick just before half-time after Richiedly Bazoer tripped Felix Nmecha in the box. Joshua Kimmich played the pass that set up Jamal Musiala’s goal 68 seconds into the second half.
Brown scored Germany’s fifth goal with a volley after Deniz Undav’s flick, and Undav added the sixth from close range shortly after Jearl Margaritha had a close effort for Curaçao. Kai Havertz scored Germany’s seventh goal with a deft dink. Germany reached seven goals without further reply from Curaçao and finished with six different goal scorers.
Aleksandar Pavlovic headed toward goal and Elroy Room tipped the effort over. Elroy Room tipped a Kai Havertz shot wide, and Leandro Bacuna blocked a Florian Wirtz shot. Curaçao’s squad was born almost entirely in the Netherlands.
Approximately 7,000 Curaçao supporters attended the match, a number of whom had travelled from the island on a day trip. Dick Advocaat was the oldest coach at the tournament.
