Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz said he has no concerns about selecting midfielder Thomas Partey for the World Cup. Partey faces trial next year on charges he denies.
bbc.co.ukGhana coach Carlos Queiroz said he has no concerns about selecting midfielder Thomas Partey for the World Cup. Partey, 32, has been named in Ghana's preliminary squad. He faces seven rape charges and one sexual assault charge relating to allegations by four women between 2020 and 2022. He has pleaded not guilty and is due to stand trial next year.
Ghana Football Association president Kurt Okraku previously said the governing body stood by Partey. Asked about the selection, Queiroz said the player's presence answered any questions. "This is not for me or you to make a judgement about," he stated.
Manchester City attacker Antoine Semenyo joined the squad over the weekend. Ghana will open its World Cup campaign against Panama on 17 June in Group L.
