More than 100 NBA players are eligible to sign contract extensions this offseason. The change in extension rules in the 2017 and 2023 collective bargaining agreements has increased the number of players signing extensions compared with the prior agreement.
Since the current collective bargaining agreement began with the 2023-24 season, an average of 31 players have signed veteran and rookie extensions each year. The average under the previous agreement was 21 players per year. A separate group of 44 potential free agents can sign extensions through June 30.
Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee
Bucks becomes eligible to sign an extension on Oct. 1. He has two years remaining on his current contract, including a player option for 2026-27. 8 million option. He told ESPN's Tim Bontemps that he has not yet received an extension offer. Co-owner Jimmy Haslam said the team expects to know Antetokounmpo's plans before the draft.
The Bucks have stated they are open to trade offers for Antetokounmpo.
